Generally, though, you're on the right track. Keep drawing heads from your imagination, from photographs, and from life. You'll get different things out of each approach.
This is great! I did a self portrait today myself. The one I did from a picture was horrible. So whether you did it from memory or a picture it still looks really good.

For sure. I am working to get myself up to current lessons and based on Betty Edwards, this should serve as a basis for where I am beginning...
